Hipworth House Progress Report

I'm tired.  But I want to capture this process.  The one where we are building the home our kids will become the people they will be.  Where they will look back at these pictures and go, "Mom, look how young you and Dad were!"  "Look at how tore up the house was!"  So here goes...

We aren't excited or anything.

Can't wait to sit on the porch and sip my coffee looking at this.  Albeit, likely with a baby
stuck to me and one running amuck like a crazy man in the grass.

Rearview

Master bath.  The tile.  All the way up to ceiling over bath wall/window.  Yup.

Master bedroom beams.  Yes!

Here's my design for this television free space.  Made to entice you to sip wine and converse with your loved ones.

Yes, I will have light colored furniture.  With children.  Not that bright white, but I'm choosing a really neutral, textured fabric.  We have a dark sectional now that is going to die in the basement.  I have found dark colors stain just as easily as light colors.  Kids stain everything.  They don't discriminate on color.

Family Room (kitchen behind me)

The family room is open to the kitchen so will likely be the main hub during the day as it seems I spend most of my waking hours making 3 meals plus 3 snacks a day.  How many times a week can a human being wipe down a high chair?  How has that the wood not been disinegrated by clorox wipes?  Anyway, I have been spending most of my nap time hours pouring through furniture galleries online.  When you are 30+ weeks pregnant and can't nest at home, you must do it virtually.  Or else move into an unfurnished home with a week or two old baby.

Here is the family room design:

I'm not committed to the leather chair.  I want something cozier, but haven't found it yet.

Tongue and groove ceiling in foyer.  Painted a medium grey.  Walls will be mostly light grey.  Lantern style iron pendant TBD at this point.  Let's just say my lighting design meeting in Atlanta was a bit overwhelming this week.

Le Study.  French doors will open to front porch.

Dining room.  Judges panel.  Yum.  Again, more french doors opening to front porch.
Couldn't squeeze one more door to the front porch if we tried!

Dining room light fixture.  Drooling.

So here's where we are.  About 9 weeks out from having another baby if all runs on schedule -- seems we are about to nail down that Baby Doyle Part Deux shall be birthed in Atlanta. About 11 weeks out from closing on Hipworth.  Designing a home from top to bottom is hard.  Being pregnant is hard (trying to switch care to a different state at about 37 weeks is even harder).  Chasing a toddler doesn't have a word in the dictionary to describe that adventure.  And to be honest, it is all so much dang fun!
