How Quickly Things Change!

If you checked the blog yesterday you saw a completely different post than what you are about to read!  Pete and I had spent the entire day Saturday trekking around Florida in search of the perfect venue to hold our wedding to make it as fun as possible for all of you!  We left at 9:30am and did not return until 5:30 pm... I was EXHAUSTED!  And in fairness after a full tank of gas burned driving through Florida, so was Pete!  After letting the details of each venue sink in we settled on a winner...Hammock Beach!!  It offered an all-in-one inclusive get-a-way for us and our traveling family and friends.  They had every Sunday in April available, they assured lodging would be no-problemo and we felt confident it would maximize the amount of fun possible in one wedding weekend!

We were so excited to share with everyone!  Texts were flying, phone calls were happening, I put together like a 2 page blog post brimming with joy, and then it happened...
We received a dreadful email from the wedding coordinator stating that she was mistaken, there actually were no rooms available on April 1st!  In a panic, we quickly offered to move to other dates in April, but the response was not good.  They either had venues and no lodging or lodging and no venues.  Our dreams were dashed.  Pete ran around the back of the house and pressed the "Panic" button.

He looked something like this...

After the initial shock, we gathered ourselves and started the whole process over.  Now, previously I made a dig at Arnie stating he must think he's running his own version of the Ritz here at Bay Hill.  But despite our first impression, we went back in to see what we could do.  Pete made the first call and Bay Hill had availability! Check one!  Then they stated they had other packages/offers for members!  Check two!  Then he booked me an 11am meeting this morning with their event planner!  Success!

I went in with high hopes this morning and met with Amanda who will know be lovingly referred to as our savior.  She went through potential ceremony sites, the beautiful white chairs and arbor they have, the linens, chair covers, and countless other additions to make the wedding beautiful and effortless for us.  More importantly, she had April 1st available AND plenty of rooms!!  Pete is in South FL in meetings today and tomorrow so after I met with her I texted him on my success and patiently waited for his call to get the A-OK to book it!

Within an hour I had the green light and we were back in the business of getting married!!  So without further adieu let me confirm we are in fact getting married at Bay Hill!!  Sunday April 1st!

Let me introduce you to the place where we will say "I Do"!

Sorry for the poor quality - but you get the idea!

And because Pete has been bugging me to get this picture up here for days...

Pete & Heather

Bay Hill Member Guest Tournament November 2011

And So It Begins!

Engaged in January with your sights on April for a timeframe (yes...in the same year) makes for an adventure filled month!

First things first: Chicago? Florida? Destination?  We are so blessed to have all these decisions to make:)  We are still in the works of planning the date/time for this wedding to go down!  There are two Florida venues on the table -

Hammock Beach Resort: http://www.hammockbeach.com/

Bella Collina: http://www.bellacollina.com/

Both are gorgeous and we would be delighted to share our special day with everyone at either place!  We have a meeting to go tour Hammock Beach this Saturday and are working on getting the appointment set up at Bella Collina.  My best friend Amy was married a couple years ago at Hammock Beach so I know it is a great spot - Ocean Golf Course for the guys and Spa and Beach for the ladies!

I will put up pics of our tour of Hammock and let you know if we get a date nailed down!  That's the goal this weekend!

As for other wedding news, I have perused one wedding dress boutique and think I've found "the one!"  I haven't even tried it on yet (going tomorrow because I can't wait for my mom to get here next week:)  It is very feminine, lacy and romantic.  I obviously can't put pics up on here if I get because Pete could see it - but I can email pics to the ladies who can't wait the couple months to see it in person!

Last I want to say THANK YOU so much for all the support and love!! It means so much to have all the warm wishes and love coming our way!  We decided to start this little website so you all can be a part of our new adventure!
