Say Good-Bye to the Green Monster

Starting Monday demolition begins on the guest bathroom we so lovingly refer to as the "Green Monster!"  I wanted to bid her a proper farewell...

God bless the forest green, 1920's mini tiles and
the white 1980's lacquer vanity.
And the crown jewel - the "Green Monster" herself
We've picked out all the new goodies over the past couple weeks and our trusty contractor (the same man who saved me from my closet catastrophe) will start on Monday!  Here's a sneak peak at the tumbled marble tile that won our hears...

I'll be sure to post some fun demolition pictures before the transformation really starts taking shape!  For now...off to our 2nd hypnobirthing class!

25 Weeks & a "Thank You"

 15 weeks to go!
Baby D's First Trading Card

Clashing "greens" were not intentional
Another week down and the growth continues!  Feeling rather round lately and I guess that's a good thing.  We are heading for a little labor day getaway next week with the Brown's and Kennedy's to Dairymen's and I am more than ready for some R&R!

I want to send a shout-out to Land of Nod for sending me an adorable swaddle blanket with a thank you note for buying our crib!  And it was hand-written no less!  I'm a sucker for those personal touches and am now feeling the urge to start looking for playroom furniture on their website:)

My Closet & Some Pregnancy Fashion

Well here she is... in all her glory...wire racks haunt me no more!  It's not the most impressive closet, but for me it is a victory!

I built that tower myself...the contractor just had to do the drawer and shoe rack...
and all the shelves and rods.  Oh, and spackle all my holes in the wall.
Look at all the pretty hangers! I bought over 200 at Home Goods so they'd all be the same.
And my OCD is still is aggravated that there weren't enough in one color.
To make all this fit and look so organized I donated 2 "yard size" garbage bags full of clothes.
It was time to let go of college.
The hangers are knock off's of "huggables" that I found at Home Goods.  They save so much space it is ridiculous!  And they are felt so the clothes don't move around on the hanger.  Target sells them as well as some other retailers, but I'll take a Home Goods deal any chance I get!  As for all those plastic hangers,  I currently have two huge garbage bags of them which are en route to be donated to my dad's church's clothes closet.

I had a few pictures from several weeks back when I went a little wild at Destination Maternity.  I figured I'd show off some of the clothes that hang in that closet.  My bump in these pics is nice and compact.  It's starting to take over at this point and my days in these cute dresses may be numbered!

Pucci wannabe

I was sending all these pics to Pete for approval.
I was having preggo-body-self-conciousness that day and needed encouragement to buy!

This one is really stretchy and will likely make it all 9 months.

This is a little silk Rosie Pope number that is about to be retired.

And this was just taken a few days ago as I was impressed the J Crew shirt still buttoned!
Those white linen pants are Sanctuary from Destination Maternity & I adore them.

All these pictures makes me realize I need to stop using my iPhone camera and get a real camera before Baby Doyle comes.  The quality leaves a lot to be desired.  Hmm...maybe an online shopping trip in my future to visit Mr. Nikon and Mrs. Canon?

24 and Ready For More!

24 weeks and we are smooth sailing!  Besides my aching back, I can't complain about much at this point in pregnancy.  Feeling baby Doyle kick and move around in my tummy makes every pain and swollen body part worth it - even at midnight when I'm trying to sleep.

We had nursery furniture delivered from Land of Nod this week! AND our local handyman came to my rescue and put my custom closet together!  I'll have to do a post dedicated to the new furnishings this week when my eyes aren't threatening to close on me mid-sentence.  Until then, enjoy the ear of corn and every painstakingly drawn kernel...

24 Weeks!

Let the baby shower prep begin!

My yearning for some craftiness has finally found an outlet!  The impending baby shower.  Okay, so my Florida shower isn't until October 13th, but with so many ideas it's time to get cracking.  First up, a pennant for decorating the main table at the shower.

I found a quick and easy DIY tutorial here.  And this is how my pennant came together:

First I traced a template on all my fabric

Then I sewed the long sides of the pennant together, snipped the point off the bottom
and turned them inside out.

I ironed a grosgrain ribbon in half and pinned the pennants 3" apart.
Finally I sewed the top of the ribbon to secure the pennant.
And "Voila!"  Instant party ready pennant!

This will likely find it's permanent home in Baby Doyle's play room post-party

Ninja Doyle

Feeling Good - Feeling Squishy
Well it was a restful week in Naples!  Baby Doyle had his/her first pampering @ the Ritz which included a "mellow mamma" massage - it was not long enough so relaxing.  We found a great product line called Mama Mio while we were there.  One of the products is changing my pregnant life.  Let me introduce you to "Lucky Legs".  My swollen little beauties have been less than lucky these past 23 weeks.  Besides the water retention, they have enjoyed lovely sensations such as itching, tingling and numbness.  This little potion has brought relief (albeit temporary) from this not so fabulous symptom.  For all my mommas-in-waiting out there I highly recommend it!!  I might have also splurged on some of their other tinctures...Boob Tube, Get Waisted, Toning Serum, Tummy Butter, Hip/Thigh Cream...okay maybe I went a little overboard, but I'm trying to stay on top of this rapid body morphing.

In Pete news: No Tarpon!  The effort was there - 2 days/10+hrs on the water - but the elusive Tarpon managed to avoid Fisherman Doyle.  With Tarpon season closing, it looks as if our labor day Dairymen's trip will be his next hope for landing a fish!

In other news: I tried to put in a custom closet this weekend while Pete was golfing...

These were the type of shelves in the walk in that I ripped down

This is what Pete came home to Sunday afternoon - obvi immediate panic
After my heroic attempts...the contractor will be here on Thursday.
