Funny how things change. Living on the edge used to mean pulling an all nighter with an important client meeting first thing the next morning. The thought, "Heather, you are living on the edge here!" ran through my mind when I put Palmer down for a nap and immediately jumped in the shower. I mean - I went all in - no waiting to see if the chooch (our word for paci) falls out and he needs a quick recovery. Just right on in with full confidence that the nap was going to go uninterrupted long enough for me to wash all of me, including my hair. As suspenseful as this may seem, all ended well and I even got to blow dry my hair. Ahh...the simple pleasures in a new mom's life.
We've had some firsts this month!! Mr P. Diddy took his first flight to Chicago!!

Here's the beanie his Auntie Lindsay sent to keep his little ears warm in the 20 degree weather |

Here he is getting his first diaper change at the airport. We thought we were safe since he did #2 before we boarded...but he went ahead and did it again on the plane, too, just so we could join the mile high club |

Here he is taking a quick pre-flight snooze in Orlando |

Palmer and I gearing up for take off! |
The plane rides both ways were very successful. I nursed him on the way up and down to equalize his ears and all was well. Pete upgraded us so we had plenty of room to maneuver and stay discreet (thanks, honey:)
Once we arrived, our morning looked something like this.

Palmer and his chief talking away. He loved spending time with his Grammy & Chief |
Grammy & Chief offered to watch Palmer one night so Pete and I could go for dinner downtown with some family. This was not Palmer's first time with someone else watching him, but it was his first time with someone else doing his bedtime routine and putting him to sleep. I had a nice cry on the way to dinner over it. I knew Grammy had everything covered - no concerns there - but my heart was sad that Pete or I wouldn't be the one tucking him in and kissing him goodnight. Glad we got the first time out of the way...hopefully it gets easier from here! I also experienced another first - pumping in a restaurant bathroom. Oh, the joys of mommyhood!
Our big adventure while in Chicago was Palmer's Sip n' See hosted by his Uncle Tom & Aunt Lindsay. They hosted a Sunday brunch with about 35 friends and family. It was such a blessing to have Palmer hang out with his cousins Lila (3) and May (1). Palmer showed off for everyone and made me a proud mommy. He even did storytime and prayers with Lila (that's right, I might've cried again).
Here's Lila doting on her baby cousin...
We made it home safe and sound and have settled back into life at the Hill.
