11 Months and Some Chrome

I did it.  With just a few days to spare, I took a photo of him at 11 months of age.

When you say smile, he really goes for it.

I don't know how photographers do it.  I take 5,000 photos that mostly look like this...

He'd rather stab his eye out then have me take a picture of him.

But sometimes they look like this...

Too cool for school

The bathroom is slowly trudging along.  We have faucets.  We have hardware.  Between 1 and 3pm today we should have a shower enclosure.  Of course during Palmer's nap time.  Brilliant.

And on the 8th day, God made chrome

The cabinets are dirty as all get out, but they are coming together.
The furniture legs for the vanities and the mirrors are on the schedule for a week or two more.  Don't you love the certainty with which cabinetry makers operate?  At least once the shower enclosure is in we will be fully operable.  Which is key since the Pete's mom, dad, brother and sister fly in today.  Then his other brother and sister-in-law (aka the baby whisperer) come in tomorrow.  Everyone's piling in for the baptism this weekend.

I'll Take a Crib Tent, Please

The Bay Hill Member Guest Tournament was a couple weeks ago now, but the photographer just sent out the link to view the pictures from the event.  I didn't take any pictures except one of Pete and I because I knew the photographer was going to be there as our personal paparazzi snapping pics all weekend.  When I got the link in my email I excitedly logged on and was ready to relive all the fun and antics.  What I got was 3 pictures.  THREE!  Pete and I were on the dance floor the entire night and the photographer was a straight stalker out there!  But the only picture he decides to post of us dancing is the one where my dress is up to my hoo-ha!!  I mean, really?!  We didn't even get one picture from Thursday night's events.  I'm bummed and contemplating emailing him to send me the files to comb through:)

Zeynep & Zeb (Pete's guest)

I basically took this same picture on my phone...thanks Mr. Photographer

That.  That's what he goes with? The angle and dress whipped out makes it look like
this could be from last year's Member-Guest when I was 8 months preggo!

We are creeping up on Palmer's first birthday and I haven't snapped his 11 month photo.  May try today.  This was the best I got when he was still beaten up.  He looks like he belongs in a bad rap video.

That will not do.

The Annual Bay Hill Fashion Show hosted by Saks was on Friday.  I'd been sick most of the week (I know...can we catch a break from the cooties?) so it was nice to get out of the house.  They raffled off some items at the end.  I never pay attention to the raffles because I NEVER win.  I was watching my number this time because the rough patch we've been in with regards to health around the Doyle house had me feeling I was ready for a turn of luck!  And wouldn't ya know, they saved the best for last.  A Diane Von Furstenburg leather bag.  And I won it!  Whooda thought it possible?!

To be honest, the buckle scares me.  It's more my style faced the other way:)

This week Palmer found his monitor camera which was resting on the his crib rails.  He had stared at it and cried to it and pointed angrily at it in the past.  But never had he tried to man handle it.  That now has all changed.  He is also throwing Mr. Giraffe overboard and trying to lunge over to save him.  Why did they recall crib tents?!

Time to mount that baby!

At last we come to the bathroom.  All I have to say is countertops and sinks.  We have countertops and sinks.  Shower enclosure, faucets, mirrors and furniture legs en route.

The hardware for the cabinetry hasn't been installed

The door for the linen closet arrived

The white quartz is just the contrast for the woods and tile

One bubble bath coming right up!

Humpty Dumpty Had a Great Fall

Actually, it wasn't Humpty.  It was Palmer.  And he didn't fall.  His closet doors did.  On his face.

This was in the ER on Friday

This was Saturday night in the bath.  Healing at warp speed.

Here he is this morning with Ivey, the hottest 1 year old on the block.

You can tell from the last picture he is making a strong recovery.  You can't see the bruises and nose swelling in the picture but he is still black and blue, but healing so fast.  It was a freak accident.  Somehow his wooden closet doors, which were not installed - just leaning against the wall, fell on him while he was sitting in the middle of his room.  I was opening the blinds with my back to him when I heard the whack.  It was terrifying.  He was laying on the ground with the doors on top of him screaming.  My first thought was, "Thank you, Jesus, he didn't get knocked out."  While the crying was  heartbreaking it meant he was conscious.  He was bleeding pretty heavily from his mouth and his face just started swelling.  I tried Pete's cell, no answer.  I tried my friend Susan who lives down the street. She picked up, I said I need you to come take me to the doctor immediately.  She didn't ask questions, just jumped in the car and came to my rescue.  Thank God for great friends.  I held Palmer in the back seat and I called my pediatrician.  They directed me to go straight to the ER.  It was a terrifying ordeal which resulted in a CAT scan where Pete had to hold Palmer's head completely still for 5 minutes.  Everything turned out okay and our little champ is making a full recovery.

In other news, Palmer's baptism is in two weeks, his birthday party in 3 weeks, countertops are being installed tomorrow in the never-ending-renovation and the blog hit 10,001 views today.  Boom.
